I have provided psychotherapy, supervision, and professional training for over twenty-five years. I trained in clinical psychology at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Belgium, my country of origin, and completed postgraduate training in Couple and Family Therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family in New York. In addition, I have a post-graduate certificate in Systems-Centered Group Psychotherapy from the Systems-Centered Therapy Research Institute in NYC as well as an International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance from Fordham University.
At Ackerman, I served as Director of the International Training Program, founded and directed the Gender & Family Project, and co-founded the Couples & Intimacies Project with Peggy Papp and Michele Scheinkman. I am Level 2 certified in Internal Family Systems (IFS).
My clinical work focuses on individuals, couples, and families, with a particular interest in relational life, including consensual non-monogamy, queer relationships, family systems and the way they shape every individual. My writing and clinical perspectives have been shared in multiple languages and presented internationally across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
I am the founder of JEM Therapy in New York City, where I maintain a private practice. I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Belgium and a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Mental Health Counselor (with diagnostic privilege) in New York State.
